DeAgostini Millennium Falcon: The Faults Awaken…

The DeAgostini part work to build a 1:1 studio model of the Millennium Falcon has had a rough ride from those that think it overpriced. I met those criticisms and rejected them, but then it became clear that to achieve a replica finish the builders are going to have to be capable of a professional paint finish–not ideal for the amateur but fine for the experienced modeler and perhaps something that should have been made clearer by the company, which I explored too.

My partner, who is collecting this, hasn’t been swayed by either of these issues because he’s sure he’ll be able to do the model justice and end up with a studio scale replica well worth the effort and expense. Until now, that is…

DeAgostini Millennium Falcon One Month In Review…

The internet s***storm over this part work continues, with people who aren’t buying into it taking time out of their lives to like and join the Facebook page just to comment on its price and criticise the people buying it. A month in–what is it actually like? Well, my fella is buying it, so I can tell you.

It’s in bits. And they don’t all connect together at this point. However, issue one came with that cool 1:1 blueprint for the model, so you can get a nice sense of scale by looking at where things are going to go. And really start to think ‘where is this beast actually going to go?!’.

Defending the DeAgostini Millennium Falcon Part Work…

DeAgostini started 2015 off with their part work Star Wars Millennium Falcon replica.

While the world is currently divided over freedom of satire, others are losing their s*** over the chocolate change in Cadbury’s creme eggs–and this part build.

People have serious criticism for this series. It’s about the price, and it’s about the delivery of this product. It has really surprised and thrown me, and I feel the need to defend it.
